In addition to offering a unique island holiday to guests, the Six Senses Krabey Island team carries a significant commitment to the sustainability and environmental protection of the region. Aside from the organic farm which produces much of the resort’s produce, there is also on-island bottling plant providing drinking water through reverse osmosis in re-useable glass bottles.
Six Senses Krabey Island takes a proactive approach within the local community by supporting the education of disadvantaged youth, the introduction of social activities and in marine conservation.
A practice of all Six Senses resorts is the production of drinking water for guests and hosts and comes in sparkling and still variations. This minimizes the carbon footprint that results from the packaging and transport of water. At Earth Lab, Six Senses Krabey Island tends a half-hectare organic market farm in which fresh produce is grown for kitchen ingredients, thus encouraging a farm-to-table practice. The resort’s hosts also tend small herb gardens which are blended into the island's natural vegetation and landscape.
Six Senses Krabey Island is committed to assist in tropical marine conservation by coral propagation and sea-plant growth in the warm waters off the island. The aim is to support the endangered marine ecosystem of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Six Senses Krabey Island plays a proactive role across social projects within the local Khmer communities. The resort works with stakeholders to support school programs at nearby villages, participate in outreach and development initiatives, as well as introducing sustainable practices.
